BILLETING / OVERNIGHT CAMPING The Gerald I. Lawhorn Scouting Base WELCOMES EVERY SCHOOL LOOKING TO CAMP! The costs to camp out at the facility are a modest $5.00 per person, per night. This is a fee for those staying overnight in the park for EVERYONE ATTENDING! The only exception to this camping fee is for parents, chaperones and other non-competing spectators WHO HAVE THEIR OWN CAMPING GEAR AND DO NOT USE THE EXISTING TENTS -- THEY DO NOT PAY TO CAMP. All camping costs are paid in advance with all other events fees and are included on your Financial Statement on-line. WE CAN NO LONGER REFUND ANY CAMPING FEES ONCE THE CAMPSITES ARE ASSIGNED ROUGHLY 10-14 DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT - THE CAMPING SLOTS ARE YOURS WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO REFUND. Also. only in the case of a true emergency will camping sites be added after these school campsite placements are completed 10-14 days prior to the event (NOTE: Adults and other non-competing cadets are not required to pay the Team Package Fee, only camping if thy use facility tents/cabins!)
SNI has available 2-person tents, 4-person tents, cabins and other configurations to make your stay as convenient as possible. We have just over 550 tent/cabin billet spaces available for your teams but we expect these to fill quickly. We will have virtually unlimited space for those bringing their own camping gear. We will work with you well in advance to get you placed together in a tight knit group. Additional latest camping details are maintained within the Raider S.O.P.
- Ensure your paperwork and finances are organized and submitted ON-TIME!
- Try whenever possible to have on-site transportation available during the event.
- After the campsites are filled, we can only give you "camping space" meaning you will need to bring your own tents, cots, sleeping bags, etc.
Those without camping gear or local transport and attending from great distances and returning teams we attempt to place FIRST in the camping area so long as their paperwork and finances are in order. Unfortunately, as the event continues to grow, it becomes harder and harder to ensure everyone can get exactly what they want when more people request something than the quantity we have available use. Pre-constructed campsites on the near side of the park by the competition are VERY LIMITED. Please ONLY ask for these if you have NO OTHER OPTIONS. Park Maps for the NEAR SIDE/COMPETITION SIDE and FAR SIDE of the camp are found here.
