DIRECTIONS AND SITE INFORMATION FOR THE FITNESS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The National JROTC Fitness Challenge Championships are held at the Plaza Resort & Spa located at 600 North Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32118. The actual event is held on the pool deck and the white sands of Daytona Beach directly behind the property. The hotel is located on the beachfront four lane road State Road A1A (SR A1A) is a north-south Florida State Road that runs along the Atlantic Ocean, from Key West at the southern tip of Florida, to Fernandina Beach, just south of Georgia on Amelia Island. It is the main road through most oceanfront towns in Florida and the best access for this Daytona Beach event.

Best access to the Hotel by land is by using Interstate 95. IF COMING FROM THE NORTH, take exit 268 (SR40, Granada Blvd.). Travel East roughly 6-7 miles over the intercoastal waterway on a tall bridge to A1A, turn right and then travel south roughly 4 miles to the property located on your left. IF COMING FROM THE SOUTH, take exit 256 (Rt 421, Dunlawton Avenue). Travel East roughly 7-8 miles over the intercoastal waterway on a tall bridge to A1A, turn left and then travel north roughly 5 miles to the property located on your right. IF COMING FROM THE WEST (those flying into Orlando), take Interstate 4 EAST to Interstate 95, then take exit 261 (SR92, International Speedway Blvd). Travel east roughly 7 miles over the intercoastal waterway on a tall bridge to A1A, turn left and then travel north roughly 1 mile to the property located on your right.

Daytona International Airport is located on State Road 92, International Speedway Blvd. Much like directions above, travel east roughly 5 miles over the intercoastal waterway on a tall bridge to A1A, turn left and then travel north roughly 1 mile to the property located on your right. As you can see from the photo above, the expansive pool deck and the oceanfront sands make for the perfect showcase venue for the fitness challenge championships.

PARKING INFORMATION FOR THE FITNESS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Parking on-site is EXTREMELY LIMITED! Teams staying as overnight guests at the Plaza Resort gain parking passes and of course can park on site in teh designated areas. Judges and event officials in very limited quantities park on property with a parking pass supplied by SNI in advance. These individuals will park in the large NORTH LOT with passes displayed on their dash. Teams and spectators NOT STAYING at the Plaza Resort must either park their vans on the nearby metered street parking (look on corss street SEABREEZE BLVD and the intersecting roads of N. Grandview Ave and N. Wild Olive) OR for all day parking, best to use the parking garage four blocks south next to the Ocean Center. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PARK YOUR CAR/VAN or BUS IN THE HOTEL PARKING LOT WITHOUT A VALID PARKING PASS OR YOU WILL BE TOWED AWAY AT YOUR EXPENSE!

TEAMS that are dropping off cadets have several options. If you have COACH BUSES or other very large vehicles, you must stop your bus in the far right lane on the east side of A1A just SOUTH of the hotel. There is an narrow entrance between the construction site just south (they are building another hotel) and the Plaza. Your cadets can depart your bus onto the sidewalk and walk up this drive to the competition site without ever entering the hotel. If you have VANS, you can do the same OR you can pull into the valet drive under the overhang by the hotel front entrance and depart. Walk through the hotel lobby and walk out the back onto the pool deck on the right as you exit. Many teams prefer with smaller vans and cars parking on the beach next to the actual competition. The driving section of the beach is directly adjacent to our event location and parking is plentiful if you get there early.

Many teams and spectators with smaller vans and cars also park on the beach next to the competition site after they open. It's a fantastic way to enjoy your stay AND have great accessability to the schools for food and drinks, set up shade tents, etc. For complete details on Beach Parking to include costs, beach driving & parking regulations, entry times and access points, go the Volusia County Beach Website
