CURRENT UPDATES FOR THE FITNESS NATIONALS WEEKEND

#1 - 30 October, 2018: EVENT PAPERWORK POSTED / REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED
Event SOP, diagrams, costs and registration information are now posted on the website. Schools are now officially allowed to enter for the May 2018 competition. Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis. Don't wait, register today to lock in your competition slot(s).

#2 - 20 March, 2019: MAJOR CHANGE - Team Size Moves From 10 to 9 Cadets
To ensure fairness and the ability to comfortably fit in the competition area, the TEAM SIZE AT THE 2019 COMPETITION AND BEYOND WILL STILL MAINTAIN A MAXIMUM OF 12 CADETS, BUT ONLY 9 CADETS WILL BE COMPETING AT A TIME IN ALL OF THE FIVE EVENTS VERSUS 10 PREVIOUSLY! Therefore, teams will have an extra alternate should they desire. The number of females on a Mixed Division team WILL NOT CHANGE (still requires FOUR females on every event). In making this change, it will allow SNI to have sufficient space, judges and resources to maintain solid oversight control running THREE STATIONS where three groups of three cadets from every team will be seen and evaluated by the same three judges. So in practicality, Cadet Smith (the 4th cadet from South HS's Standing Broad Jump team) and Cadet Jones (the 4th cadet from North HS's Standing Broad Jump team) and every OTHER teams' 4th cadet will be seen by THE SAME JUDGE! This major change was sent out via email as well. Plan accordingly.

#3 - 21 March, 2019: Clarification and Specific Procedures for the #150 Sled Drag During the P.T.T.
In reviewing the exact procedures we wanted for the Sled Drag during the P.T.T., we found numerous ways to serve this master. But none really added much of anything to the strategy involved in the event (something several teams wanted more of) - or the fun. After testing a few different models, SNI has settled on THIS as the official Sand Sled for the 2019 Fitness Nationals (WX2-669922 - Kdx Eagle Claw Kodiak Xl Sled). It weighs 27lbs, has higher sides than most and a heavy duty rope. And here is where the strategy comes into play.

After the start, all team members will execute all of the obstacles and reach the northern end of the course. After passing the northern turn around point, ONE of your cadets (your choice) will ENTER and SIT in the sled (rather that fill the sled with weights, etc.). You will then pull the sled with one or two people (NOTE: do not have to be the SAME people the whole time) roughly 1/8 mile to the southern turn-around flag, go AROUND the flag, then pull the sled back with your cadet to the original position where it was picked up. Your cadet will then exit the sled and then all team members will complete the balance of the obstacle. The teams does NOT have to stay together at any time in this race and how you design your attack on this course will be your own strategy to accomplish the mission. (

REMINDER TO ALL TEAMS! THE COMPETITION SCHEDULE WILL BE POSTED SEVEN DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT,
THEREFORE YOU WILL HAVE TIME TO SCHEDULE YOUR MEALS & ACTIVITIES AROUND YOUR COMPETITION TIMES!

THIS WILL BE THE CUT-OFF FOR LISTING ANY FURTHER SOP UPDATES/MODIFICATIONS
ON THIS PAGE - NO FURTHER UPDATES WILL BE POSTED!
ANY FURTHER CHANGES OF NOTE WILL BE CALLED/EMAILED FOR A MAJOR ISSUE
OR COVERED AT THE COMMANDER'S CALL ON ARRIVAL FOR MINOR ISSUES.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL JROTC FITNESS TEAMS!
